FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Cal men’s swimming & diving freshman Joshua Thai finished his strong showing at the Pac-12 Diving Championships with a fourth-place finish in the platform. The fourth-place finish for Thai caps a three-day performance that also saw him earn seventh in the 1-meter dive and eighth in the 3-meter dive.
On Wednesday in the 1-meter dive, Thai finished the prelims with a score of 284.95. In the finals he was even stronger, finishing with a score of 315.30. His best drive was his fifth attempt, a forward 2 ½ somersault 1 twist pike that netted him 60.80 points.
The following day, Thai captured eighth in the 3-meter championships with a score of 338.70. On Friday, he opened the competition by finishing second in the prelims with a season-best score of 354.15. In the finals, he finished took fourth with a score of 348.55.
With the diving portion of the Pac-12 Championships finished, the swimmers will head to the King County Aquatic Center next weekend for the swimming championships where the Golden Bears are looking to win their sixth-straight Pac-12 Championship.
Thai will return to action in Federal Way for the Mar NCAA Diving Zone E competition. 6-8.
